Things I Never Thought I would Say or Do...Thursday

First, I am going to start with what is new with us....the first new thing is that Zach and I have made it three years of marriage. We are very happy about that and have a great little girl to show for it. It hasn't been easy, but I think we can get through anything with all our experiences. Second, we have a new nephew that was born on Friday, May 20th, his name is Luke Thomas and he is pretty cute. The three of us went to see him Friday night, but Kaylie slept through the visit. She probably wouldn't have known what another baby was anyways. I'm sure they will be best buds soon enough.

On to my things I thought I would Never say or Do...this week I can only come up with two:

1. With Memorial Day coming up I thought about this one. I NEVER thought I would say that I love camping.  When growing up the most camping we did was a week long trip to a modern cabin ever few years. Don't get me wrong I love going to a cabin, but it just isn't the same as sleeping on an air mattress in a tent. I would have to say that I am sad to not be going camping this weekend. The last few years we have had an annual camping trip and unfortunately Kaylie is too young this year. I think I love the relaxing and just not caring part about camping and I love to be outside. We are thinking about going to a cabin this summer because then we get some camping in, but Kaylie has somewhere to be inside. Then next summer we hope to resume our annual trip.

2. I NEVER thought I would be that mom that got excited about the smallest things. For example, last night I put Kaylie in bed and she was laying parallel with the crib and then about 15 minutes later I went in to see if she was sleeping and she was in a diagonal position. After seeing this I woke Zach up from his nap just to show him that she is starting to move. Oh man, I am going to be one of those moms...lol.

Well I think that is all I can come up with this week.

Our baby is 2 months old.

Sadie wanted her to play fetch with her so she gave
her the toy to throw.
So our little girl is getting big and turned 2 months old on Sunday...before I know it I will be saying our baby has turned 2 years old! So here is what is new with her, can't say that it will be too much different since I was so late of last month.

Movement: I think we are getting closer to rolling over. Today, when we were doing tummy time at Grandma's we almost rolled from our tummy to our back. We would have if are darn arm wasn't in the way...ha ha. We are getting very squirmy, especially when we are trying to burp her. We can't wait to see what the rest of this month brings us...hopefully I will have a post soon saying that she is rolling over.
Eating: Still eating pretty good, since last Saturday we have pretty much eliminated the nightly feeding. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but maybe we have something here. We will see. She also seems to be spitting up a little less often but maybe it is a fluke.
Teeth: No teeth, but they say that 9 weeks is when they start to drool and boy do we drool.
Sleep: Couple nights this week we have slept through the night, waking up at about 6 a.m. Too bad mommy and daddy weren't smart enough to go to bed at the same time so they could get a full nights rest. We are keeping our fingers crossed to see if she will keep it up.
Voice: We love our voice! We talk to anyone and everyone. We are getting little giggles and screeches from time to time. It is funny when we go from crying really loud to giggling. Tonight, we were cranky and then daddy made a funny noise and poked us on the forehead and we just started giggling. It cracked Zach and I up so much.
Favorites: Tummy Time, okay I wouldn't say that it is a favorite of ours yet. We are starting to enjoy it more though. Tonight, we thought she was going to fall asleep doing it. We are really holding our head up good now. And we are holding our feet up and kicking about too.
Diaper Size: Still size 1, we have no more newborns.
Size (Weight & Length): We measured her at 23 inches and about 10 pounds. We will see what she is when we go to the doctor later in the month.
Clothes Size: 0-3 months, I had to put two more outfits in the tub because we outgrew them. Man, she is growing like a weed already.

Things I Never Thought I would Say or Do...Thursday

I thought Thursdays would be great days to write about the things that I thought I would never say or do in my life:

1. I Never Thought I would be able to say that my daughter would be close to her cousins in age. Being 13 years younger than my sister I always thought my kids would grow up like I did. I grew up not really knowing my cousins or even my siblings to that matter.  But I am happy to say that tomorrow my sister Melissa will be having her 3rd child which will be almost 2 months younger than Kaylie. We can't wait to meet the new baby and happy that Kaylie will have a cousin that is the same age as her.

2. I Never Thought that I would be able to say that I met my husband and best friend back in grade school. Sure, every girl has that dream that they will marry a prince and have a family with them. I just never knew I would get that from the start. Who knew that my first real boyfriend would be my last. I am so glad that I met Zach because he is my everything and my best friend. He has been there for me through my tough high school years and we made it through our first year of college in a long distance relationship. And now, we take on our hardest challenge yet being the best role models and parents for Kaylie that we can be, but I am up for the challenge with my best friend by my side...I love you Zachariah Paul with all my heart.

3. I Never Thought I would have to learn quickly how to feed a baby in the grocery store. A couple of weeks ago, my mom and I were out shopping when Kaylie woke up from a long nap. Of course, my baby was very hungry and we were at HyVee. So what did I do? Well I got the bottle out and started feeding her...thankful at that time that I was not breastfeeding. It was easy to do at first, until it was time to burp her now that was the challenge. So I got her out and burped her and then kept feeding her while I carried her down the aisle. I was very thankful that my mom was there to help me put things in the cart or else it could have been an interesting trip to the store.

4. I Never Thought that I could love someone as much as I love this baby. She makes my day light up, even if it is after she spit up all over the outfit I just put on her. That smile just gets me. Motherhood truly is one of the greatest things ever and I am glad that I am getting to experience it,

A Little Late...but Kaylie is a Month Old!!

We can't believe it but our baby girl is a month old already...man has time flown by already.

Movement: As I sit here writing this we are kicking and moving like crazy. Our new favorite thing is our gym...we love to kick and have our pink flower make noise and we now have figured out that we can make noise by hitting our toys with our hands and feet. She really enjoys it. I am waiting for the day that she rolls onto her tummy...which she will hate since she hates doing tummy time.

Eating: We are now eating every 3 to 4 hours and eating about 3.5 to 4 oz. a time. Just depends on the day. We are still spitting up almost every bottle, sometimes it is only a mouth full other days it is more. We do get excited when we eat without spitting up or hiccups. She hates the hiccups and gets them all the time. The doctor says she should stop spitting up once she gets walking...we are hoping it is when we start solids, but only time will tell.

Teeth: Too young to start the teething process...we sure love her toothless grin though.

Sleep: We usually sleep a good 4 to 5 hours and wake up in the middle of the night. Wednesday night, we went to sleep at 11 p.m.and woke up at 6 a.m. without waking up. Maybe this will continue, but we will see.

Voice: We have started making sounds a couple of weeks ago...she is a lot of fun to listen to. I love listening to her talk when she playing in her gym.

Favorites: Definitely, her gym...she is starting to really enjoy play time. And I enjoy being able to set her down on it and her be happy. I also, love to watch her kick and hit the toys.

Diaper Size: We just moved to size 1 Pampers, we could've stayed in Newborn for a little longer, but we didn't want to buy a box of Newborn and she grow out of them.

Clothes Size: She is mainly in 0-3 month clothes, she has like two outfits that are still newborn. She got too tall for them that is why we had to switch. Funny since both mommy and daddy are short...ha ha.

Nicknames: A lot of people call her princess or peanut...she is baby girl or kiddo to mommy and daddy. Daddy wants to call her squirt, but I haven't heard him use it yet.

She is sure starting to get fun and Zach and I both can't wait to watch her grow more.

Well this post only took me a week to write...ha ha. Hope you enjoy the update on Kaylie.

About the Evermans

I figured a good start would be how we became the family that we are. Zach and I met in grade school and started to "date" in 7th grade. You know as much as two kids with no car or license can date. We dated all through high school and when the time came to go to college, I decided to stay close to home and go to UNI and Zach decided to go to University of Dubuque to play soccer. I had a really bad first year at college, even thought about dropping out a few times because it was hard with Zach being so far away and I am not the best at meeting new people. Zach then made the decision to come back home to UNI for his sophomore year, I was thrilled and decided to stay there.

Our junior year of college, Zach decided to propose to me by making me go around our dorm doing a scavenger hunt to finish back in my room with him down on one knee. It was a great day. We then got married 2 weeks after I graduated from UNI on May 24, 2008. We moved into a split foyer house in Cedar Falls and began our life together as husband and wife. I stayed at the ticket office as a ticketing assistant, which was a part-time job and Zach was going to school and working for Mudd Advertising. He then graduated in May 2009, and went on full time with Mudd.

We always said that we wanted to wait five years to start a family, but we started thinking that we didn't want to wait. In the summer of 2009, we started to try for a baby. It took a year, but we finally got pregnant in summer 2010. We were so excited! We found out that we were going to have a baby girl in March. Zach was hoping she would come a few weeks early so she would share a birthday with him and his dad. They wanted her to be the 3rd generation born on that day. She was stubborn and decided she wanted her own birthday to herself, I can't say that I blame her. She decided to come a week late on March 22, 2011 at 3:05 a.m., weighting a healthy weight of 7lbs 3oz.and was 20 3/4 inches long. We were very excited but scared at the same time.
