Almost halfway to 1 year...5 Months Old

She started out on the blanket!
Movement: Kaylie can now roll both ways and have started to roll to get to places. We have put a gate up at the top of the stairs but we still need to finish the baby proofing. I can't believe how fast she is growing up and she will be crawling before I know it and probably before I am ready.

Eating: She eats 24 to 29 oz. a day. And she gets at least one fruit or veggie a day. I am going to try to get in the habit this month to do a fruit in the morning and a veggie at night, but we will see. I tried giving her puffs the other day and she thought they were fun to play with, but she wasn't quite sure about them when they went in her mouth. Daddy and I thought it was pretty funny.
She has loved everything we have given her so far!

Teeth: Nothing yet...still drooling like crazy and she loves to chew on everything.

Sleep: Sleeps from 8:30p (sometimes 9p) to about 7:00a (7:30a if I'm lucky on my days off). She usually sleeps all the way through but we had a couple nights that she was waking up in the middle of the night; we think she was sick.

Voice: Kaylie sure knows how to use her voice. It mostly is for good happy talking, but we still get some screaming fits from time to time. She sure has a pair of lungs when she does get really mad. We are very glad that she doesn't have a screaming fit daily any more.

Favorites: Pretty much anything that can go in her mouth. She puts everything she finds in her mouth so we have had to learn how to be a little more careful. She also seems to love the tag on her gym more than her gym right now

Diaper Size: 2 During the Day and 3 Baby Dry at night, she was leaking every night and I was getting tired of doing laundry so we switched her to the baby dry which last up to 12 hours and got the size up when the same size wasn't working.

Size (Weight & Length): 13lbs (I'm guessing because when we weighed her it said that she weighed less than when she was at the doctor and I don't believe it) 25 3/4 inch

Clothes Size: We are still mainly in our 0-3 month outfits, but we have a few 3-6 month outfits for this summer.

She is already a ham for the camera
Nicknames: Bug-A-Boo is my main one right now, but we are trying not to use nicknames because we want her to get to understand her name.

30 Day Challenge- Day 30 (Last Day)!!

Day 30- Your favorite song.

If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away by Justin Moore:

Everyday I'd drive to work across Flint River bridge
A hundred yards from the spot where me and grandpaw fished.
There's a piece of his ol' fruit stand on the side of Sawmill Road
He'd be there peelin' peaches if it was 20 years ago
And what I wouldn't give
To ride around in that old truck with him

If Heaven wasn't so far away
I'd pack up the kids and go for the day
Introduce them to their grandpaw
And watch them laugh at the way he talked
Find my long lost cousin John
The one we left back in Vietnam
Show him a picture of his daughter now
She's a doctor and he'd be proud
Tell 'em we'd be back in a couple of days
In the rear view mirror, we'd all watch 'em wave
Yea, losin' them wouldn't be so hard to take
If Heaven wasn't so far away.

I'd hug all three of those girls we lost from the class of '99
And I'd find my bird dog Bo,
And take him huntin' one more time
Ask Hank why he took those pills back in '53
Ask Janice to sing the second verse of 'Me and Bobbie McGee'
Sit on a cloud and visit for a while
It'd do me good just to see them smile.

If Heaven wasn't so far away
I'd pack up the kids and go for the day
Introduce them to their grandpaw
And watch them laugh at the way he talked
Find my long lost cousin John
The one we left back in Vietnam
Show him a picture of his daughter now
She's a doctor and he'd be proud
Tell 'em we'd be back in a couple of days
In the rear view mirror, we'd all watch 'em wave
Yea, losin' them wouldn't be so hard to take
If Heaven wasn't so far
If Heaven wasn't so far
If Heaven wasn't so far away.
So far away
So far awaaaaaaaaaaay

30 Day Challenge- Day 29

Day 29- In this past month, what have you learned
I have learned that I love to blog, but I am not real big on the every day thing. I think it was nice to have something to talk about, but some times they were just silly. I love that you can speak your mind and also talk about the new and exciting things in your life.

I learn everyday what it feels like to be a mommy to a wonderful little baby and I have learned what unconditional love is. I am so excited to see what comes of this little princess!

30 Day Challenge-Day 28

Day 28- How have you changed since then last year?
Well the biggest change would be that I am no longer pregnant and I am a mother now. I think this is one of the greatest changes I have had in my life. Motherhood is fantastic, it can be very hard at times with lack of sleep and a crying baby, but I think that is why it is so rewarding.

I can't say that I have probably changed much other than that, but I think that is a pretty major one.

30 Day Challenge-Day 27

Day 27- Why are you doing this 30 day challenge
I started doing it mainly to get myself to blog more and to have topics to blog about. It has been fun, but it has gotten a little old. When I am done with this I might try to blog once a week unless I have something special to talk about.

30 Day Challenge-Day 26

Day 26- What you think about your friends
Well that is a silly question...they wouldn't be my friends if I didn't like them. The bad people in my life I have already gotten rid of and thank goodness. I do wish that I could hang out with my friends more, but our schedules don't match much.

Chris, well he is Uncle Chris in our house to Sadie and of course Kaylie. He is our best friend and I have always saw him as a big brother, which is funny since he is younger than I am. He has been there through a lot with Zach and I and we know we can count on him for anything. And the kids adore him too.

Andrew & Jo, we have known Andrew since grade school and he has always been like a brother to me. Our first year at UNI we use to go on "dates" because his girlfriend at the time was in high school and Zach was in Dubuque. Then he brought his lovely wife Jo into the picture and we have loved her since we met her. I love that I have someone else to keep me sane when the boys are being boys.

Sara & Chad, I met Chad first when he started at UNItix and then Sara was hired. Sara and I really hit it off and then we started hanging out as couples. They have become great friends and we don't know what we would do without them. Even though neither of them work at the ticket office anymore we still try to get together often.

Susan & John, We met Susan first in college; she lived on the same floor as me. The first day we met her Zach had to carry her back to her room that night. We have had some fun times from college and beyond with her. John, well I will be honest the first time I met him I didn't think we would get along. He is a very loud person and those of you who know me...I am very quite. But I have to say that he has grown on me and I just ignore him...ha ha. Kidding John. We both wish they didn't move to Davenport...we will miss them. :(

Reese & Carrie, Reese met Zach at UNI and then they decided we should go to a movie together. We hit it off right away. We even found out Carrie and I had met at a softball camp in high school...small world. Now the boys talk nerd while Carrie and I have our own conversation. Glad someone else has to deal with the "wow it is a clear cord" things. We are so happy that they are in Iowa City now instead of Minnesota.

Megan & Ryan, Megan was in our group when we were in school and her and I were pretty close and Ryan we knew of in school but didn't talk to really since he was a few grades above us. We have stayed close with them, but they live in Readlyn and have a cute little boy Ryker that keep them busy. We love that we can pick up right from where we left off when we do get to see each other. Zach and I are happy that they have a kid too so we aren't the only ones.

Courtney & Phil, Courtney and I have been friends since we were babies. Our moms actually went on diets and then they got pregnant with us. This is funny because I am two months older than her and Kaylie will be about 5 months older than their little girl. Phil we met when Courtney stayed dating him and have like him every since. We wish we say them more, but they live in Iowa Falls. Maybe with the baby, Courtney and I can have some play dates.

Shivanie, Shivanie and I met when she was still working for UNItix. We hit it off once I started to talk finally. She said I was a hard person to open up, but now we can talk for hours. We unfortunately don't get to see each other much anymore because she now lives in Texas. Can't wait for her to come visit and meet Kaylie!

Jacki, We lived on the same floor with Susan at UNI. We all had some great times, but when she got out of college she moved to Colorado. I miss her dearly, but get to see her from time to time when she come home to Iowa.

I love my friends and all of them for a different reason...they are like family and Zach, Kaylie and I are happy to have them in our lives.

30 Day Challenge-Day 24

Day 24- A letter to your parents
Dear Mom & Dad,
I want to thank you for all the love and support you have shown me these 25 years. You have always been my biggest fans and I love you both for that. You are the greatest parents a girl could ask for, and Kaylie is very lucky to have the two of you as grandparents. Mom, thank you for being there for me today...It was a rough day and I am lucky to have you here for me.
 Love you both.
Sam

30 Day Challenge-Day 23

Day 23- Something you crave for a lot
I think the thing that I crave a lot would be 4 Queens Ice Cream, but fortunately Zach doesn't let me get it very much. If he did my diet would be ruined a lot.

30 Day Challenge-Day 22

Day 22- What makes you different from everyone else
I don't really know much that makes me different from everyone else. I do have a different connection with the numbers 6 & 13. I was born on June (6) 13th. I was 6 lbs 13 oz and 19 in. I was the 6th child to my parents and 13th grandchild on my mom's side. This is why when I was in school I always picked 6 & 13. I know that most people think 13 is a bad number to most people, but it has always been lucky to me.

30 Day Challenge-Day 21

Sorry I had a busy weekend so I forgot to Blog...

Day 21- A picture of something that makes you happy

This smiley face makes me very happy!

30 Day Challenge-Day 20

Day 20- Someone you see yourself marrying/being with in the future
Well since I am married already, I would have to say that I see myself staying married to Zach and living a very happy life together.

30 Day Challenge-Day 19

Day 19- Nicknames you have; why do you have them
Bubba-Guess My older brother Pat gave it to me...not sure why.
Squirt-My sister Melissa still calls me this from time to time... probably because I was littler than her.
Sambo-To all my college friends, I will always be this and Zach is Zachbo.
Samo-Dad sometimes still calls me this, but manly it was when I was pitching. I wasn't the only Sam on the team and it would say Samo because it was faster than Sambo.

30 Day Challenge-Day 18

Day 18- Plans/dreams/goals you have
1. Get my job back after I interview and get back to a normal schedule.
2. Have at least two more children.
3. Save up enough money to put a decent down payment on a new bigger house.
3. Enjoy my husband and children for many years and retire and have a winter home down south.

Nothing too big! :)

30 Day Challenge-Day 17

Day 17- Someone you would want to switch lives with for one day and why
This one was a tough one and last night I was just too tired to think so I didn't blog last night...oops!

I think switch lives with my husband. I know this sounds probably weird, but would love to the world in the eyes of a man. I also would love to be as laid back as he is for just one day. I haven't figured out how he does it, but maybe it is because he is a man. Who knows!

I would like to have in switch lives with me just so he can do some of things I do, like clean the house. If I could get out of it for one week that would be great. I say that but I am sure that he wouldn't do it the way I like it done and then I would redo it the next day anyways. I am a perfectionist a little bit, I have a process to most things such as cleaning or getting Kaylie ready for bed. I think it would be interesting to switch for a day, but I think by the end of the day I would be ready to switch back.

30 Day Challenge-Day 16

Day 16- A photo of a place you want to go

Some day I want to take Kaylie and our future children to Disney World. I went when I was about 9 years old and I don't remember it very well. I want the kids to be a little older so that they can enjoy it more and hopefully they will be easier to travel with.
